Project Liwanag sa Dilim was a collaborative humanitarian initiative of the Rotary Club of Naga Heights and its sister clubs that provided 25 SALt Lamps (Sustainable Alternative Lighting) to 25 families in Zone 7, Barangay Harubay, Calabanga, Camarines Sur, an off-grid community that remains beyond the reach of the local electrification program. The SALt Lamps, powered by a simple saline solution of water and salt, offer a safe, sustainable, and environmentally friendly source of light for households without electricity. The project improved the quality of life of beneficiary families by enabling children to study after dark, allowing parents to safely perform household activities at night, and reducing dependence on hazardous kerosene lamps and disposable batteries. Through the combined efforts of the participating Rotary clubs, the initiative demonstrated the power of collaboration in addressing energy poverty, promoting sustainable innovation, and bringing hope and opportunity to underserved communities through lasting service.
